Award-winning team, Allan and Gill Panniers and their son Nick, farm 64,000 free range Dekalb birds on Big Dutchman Natura 264 Multi-Tier and Nest System by Newquip Ltd, supplying eggs to Stonegate.
Focused on productivity and the performance, the family commissioned Jaques to design and construct two 16,000 bird free range egg laying units, including storage and amenity buildings. Each clear span steel framed poultry house is 69.905m long x 20.100m wide. Construction also included a satellite egg packing facility, 18.288m x 10.214m, an egg conveyor bridge between the two buildings and centralised single muck belt collection point.
AW & GS Panniers was the first commercial UK free range flock to be taken to 100 weeks old in any system. It was also the first commercial flock to achieve over 500 eggs per bird housed. As a result the Panniers family won Egg Producer of the Year National Egg & Poultry Awards 2020.
