Jaques Int Limited were awarded the contract to build a purpose-built depot for Danfords, a family run business supplying concrete equipment for over 20 years.

The new Danfords site in Leominster, Hereford, will allow the family firm to expand. The high specification, energy efficient premises has been designed, built and project managed by Jaques Int Limited. Working closely with Dan Fordham, Danfords Managing Director, a building which will facilitate the business to deliver its long-term strategy and objectives has been constructed.

Function and design were at the forefront of project planning, critical for profitability and the efficient operation of the Danfords business for a sustainable future.

FUNCTIONALITY

Creating Dan Fordham’s vision for the future, resulted in the design of a structural steel framework depot measuring 36m long x 20m wide x 9m high. Five service bays, as well as three mezzanine floors for modern office facilities and parts store, allow for functionality and efficiency on site. Within the building integral crane beams were incorporated to support a 10 tonne overhead gantry crane.

DESIGN

The building consists of TATA trisomet 333 composite roof and wall panels in Goosewing Grey, with TATA microrib composite panels to the office area. Triple skin factory assembled insulated roof lights on one half of the roof and solar PV preparations on the other half optimise roof space for energy efficiency.

The structure incorporates five insulated sectional doors, aluminum external doors with UPvC double-glazed windows with a reflective coating and insulated steel fire/personnel doors.

Features include a galvanized first floor office balcony, cold rolled purlins, cladding rails and mezzanine floor joists. The painted structural steel work finish is finished to paint industry standard BS EN ISO 1461:2009.

From concept to completion in this project was designed, supplied and erected on time and within budget.
